Bearbert

Bearbert was a little stuffed bear.

He liked to pretend he was big and brave.

Bearbert was lonely. He had no one to play with.

So Bearbert went for a walk. He climbed over some hills.

Bearbert came to the edge of the sea. The sea was deep and the other side was far away.

Then Bearbert found a little boat.

It was lonely, too. Bearbert and the boat sailed all over the sea.

They found a little cloud who was lonely.

Bearbert said "Come play with us." The cloud sailed with them.

Then they found a little sun. It was so lonely, it could hardly shine.

Bearbert said "Play with us." The sun went to play with Bearbert and the boat and the cloud.

They saw an iceberg. On the iceberg was a mean polar bear.

"ROAR!" said the polar bear. it waved its claws at them.

Bearbert could only say "rort," he was so scared.

The sun could only glimmer, it was so scared.

The little boat was so scared, it sailed in circles.

It sailed right toward the polar bear's big claws.

The little cloud said "I can save us."

It spread out and hid its friends. The polar bear couldn't see them anymore.

They sailed right into a tall tidal wave.

The tidal wave said "RUMBLE!" It sounded like thunder.

The cloud tried to hide them. But the water ran right through it.

The sun tried to glimmer, but the water made it cold.

Bearbert could only say "tort

Then the boat said "I can save us." It raised its sails and took them away from the tidal wave.

The north wind began to howl. "WO0000!" said the north wind.

It blew right at them. It blew so hard, the boat started to tip over.

Bearbert could only say "vort," he was so scared.

The cloud began to rain, and only filled the boat with water.

The sun said "I can save us." It shined brightly.

The north wind was so amazed, it stopped blowing.

The little sun got brighter. The north wind blew away as fast as it could.

Bearbert was sad. His friends had done brave deeds to saved them. Bearbert started to cry.

Suddenly, a big monster came to the edge of the sea.

A giant hand reached out to the friends.

The sun was so scared, it just blinked.

The cloud spread out so thin, it was just a wisp.

The boat sailed in circles again.

Bearbert was brave.

He said "That's not a monster. That's only my boy, looking for me."

Bearbert waved his arms.

The boy took Bearbert out of the boat to play and have fun.

The boat, the cloud, and the sun were still friends.

They sailed away across the sea.

They sailed past the tidal wave and the polar bear.

They skipped ahead of the north wind.

They had lots of fun. They were never lonely again.
