Redmond United Methodist Church and its congregation have striven to make the church facility a fully accessible place to visit, worship, and participate in church and community programs and fellowship. We have done everything we can within our means to make the church an inviting place for all people, including those who live with and deal with accessibility constraints.
The Redmond UMC grounds are accessible from all streets and our parking lot to persons with mobility, sight, and hearing issues. We meet or exceed federal, state, and local accessibility regulations. Our Sanctuary, fellowship hall, kitchen, and educational areas are fully wheelchair accessible by ramp. Our bathrooms have stalls for accessibility-impaired persons.
Redmond UMC does have two areas which are not accessibility compliant and, due to the age of the facility, may never be effectively made compliant. Both are connected by only stairways to the rest of our facility.
- The upstairs area of our almost 100-year-old original buildingcommonly called "RUMY country" because it hosts our Redmond United Methodist Youth group. Our youth leaders are aware of the potential that youth with mobility, sight, or hearing issues could desire to participate in the youth program, and understand they have the congregation's full approval to relocate any and all youth activities to accessible portions of the church.
- The downstairs portion of our 1950s-era education wing is currently leased to and supervised and operated by the Redmond Parent Cooperative Pre-School, and not used by the church for any church-supported functions. Questions about accessibility to this area of the building should be addressed to the Redmond Parent Cooperative Pre-School at http://www.rcpreschool.org.
