Bothell, WA At last, much needed new tools to administer and maintain Windows servers and workstations can be deployed directly over the Internet. Seattle Lab announces the release of RemoteNT, the complete tool for remotely administering entire Windows networks. The need to administer Windows (NT or higher) systems is a proven network function. Remote administration is becoming a fact of life. System administrators looking for a single solution or wanting to simplify their administration process, will find the right answer is RemoteNT from Seattle Lab, Inc. Whether the Windows computers are located just down the hall or across an ocean, RemoteNT lets administrators control individual systems as though they are sitting at the specific computer's console. RemoteNT is based on the extreme efficiency of the Telnet protocol, so it offers more reliability than any other administration package #151; RemoteNT gets through when nothing else will. "No matter what continent your server is located on, or what operating system your network is running, RemoteNT will get you inside the box moments after a problem is detected," says Larry Heberlein, president of Seattle Lab. "Even if the system has stopped responding to ground operators, as long as it is still connected to the Internet, its core services are still accessible to your login." RemoteNT allows administrators to remotely perform any task needed to return systems to full network functionality, including tasks like editing the registry which until now required the administrator's presence at the problem system's console. This Seattle Lab solution features a new command-line registry editor, available only with RemoteNT, which allows administrators to remotely edit any registry keys on any computer to which they have administrator's rights. RemoteNT's features Implemented as a Windows service, RemoteNT runs as a part of the operating system. It starts whenever the system is booted. "Once installed on any networked computer, it allows access by sysops from any other computer #151; even if the computer is borrowed," says Larry Heberlein. "For emergency response, RemoteNT makes all the difference between disaster and profitability." RemoteNT offers multiple ways to connect to the system over the Internet. It can be connected using any Telnet client. Administrators can access any Windows computer from any other computer, even from computers still using Windows 95 or 98. RemoteNT allows total administrative control of the remote system. It contains a complete package of useful administrative tools. Administrators can perform every task available directly from the console, including listing all running processes and terminating any runaway process, as well as: * Restart and stop any or all services RemoteNT includes a brand-new command-line program for remotely editing the registry, available only from Seattle Lab. This regshell.exe command-line registry editor is full-featured. It does everything that Microsoft's GUI-based regedit.exe will do and can do it remotely from any console anywhere. It ships as an integrated function of RemoteNT. RemoteNT is the most rugged and reliable remote administration tool yet developed. It works at a low-level and its efficient protocol holds up even over the slowest links. It is the only service yet developed that administrators can count on when everything else fails. RemoteNT operates on any Windows computer with a minimum of Pentium processor, 1 MB disk space and 2 MB RAM per user logon, and any version of Microsoft Windows NT or higher (for Windows NT 4.0, service pack 3 must be installed).
