Try Positive Thinking–It Works!

You can lead your recruits to success with the company opportunity by setting a good example. When they see you as a positive thinker, they'll work hard to be like you. A positive attitude not only makes you happier, it can make you more productive and healthier. Studies show there is a strong link between mental health and physical well-being.

A management study by the University of Chicago found that managers who had an optimistic attitude and the ability to be flexible also had the fewest days of sickness reported.

Managers with the healthiest attitudes, the study found, could adapt to changing conditions and were even able to seek positive outcomes for bad events such as major illnesses, they regained their health faster. Managers with unhealthy attitudes who had negative feelings were sick more often and their illnesses lingered longer.

Another study, conducted over many years with a group of Harvard University graduates, consisted of mental and physical health tests, administered every two years. Of those with a positive outlook, only four percent became chronically ill. By contrast, 38 percent of those with poor attitudes became chronically ill.

In other words, people who enjoy what they do and who feel they have control over their lives and their jobs are more likely to be healthy and successful.

That's really the heart of the company opportunity. We offer you the opportunity to control your own life and make a positive contribution to your location, your environment, your neighborhood and your career. We present you with the chance to take charge.

You, in turn, have the opportunity to present others with the same chance to take charge. Share the company opportunity. Do the "Opportunity Talk" and use the Platinum/Gold/Silver Opportunity program.

Here's a proven three-step approach to being positive.

  1. Enjoy your work. If you really like what you do, it will be
  2. Always do something nice for someone else. Even if it's as simple as holding a door open for someone, you'll feel better about having reached out.
  3. Take special notice of the good things that happen to you. Substitute your list of positive happenings in place of dwelling on the negative.

We urge you, as you develop your management career, to live these steps and share them with your recruits.

Here's How:

  1. Believe in yourself. Have faith in your own abilities. Show your recruits that you believe in company.
  2. Have a reason for living. It gives you energy. The company's health, nutrition, and safety benefits are a strong reason to be positive about your career.
  3. Picture yourself succeeding. Athletes do this all the time. Experts call it rehearsing success.
  4. Choose happiness. When you can pick between being happy or sad, there shouldn't be any doubt—pick happy.
  5. Don't hide. If you have a problem on your hands, admit it. But look for positive ways to solve it.
  6. Replace a negative thought, when it does crop up, with a new positive one.
  7. Optimists work together. Associate with positive thinkers. Their attitude will rub off on you.It will be easier for you to become a positive thinker yourself.
  8. Know your limits. You can't do everything. Attack the priority tasks first and then do things that you have time to accomplish without stressing yourself unduly, easier to do it all day long.

Give Yourself A Positive Self-Talk

Positive thinking can make a major difference, according to experts with the United States Behavioral Health organization.

How you think—which is really how you talk to yourself -- often affects how you act and how others see you. "How you talk to yourself should match your self-image and match what you want to tell others," says one expert.

Giving yourself the opportunity to do positive self-talk can help on the job as you do the things necessary for selling and recruiting.

The expert recommends that, instead of thinking about why things might go wrong, you should constantly remind yourself why they should go right.

"You can admit you're nervous," says the expert, but don't dwell on it. The important thing is to tell yourself: "Hey, this is a great idea or project. I've thought it through—it's as clear as it can be. I'm well-prepared and I have a lot to contribute to the team."

A positive self-talk should give you a whole different attitude when going to meet customers or starting a new project or training to sell a new product.

Remember these findings, which show that developing a positive mental attitude is a big advantage:

  • People who enjoy their work remember and visualize the things they did right.
  • Giving yourself a positive self-talk after an accomplishment is just as important as a positive self-talk before. Don't be afraid to say: "Hey, that was a success."
  • Always use positive words when talking to yourself and to other people.
  • Begin each day with an upbeat attitude and a smile—even if the place you see the smile is in your bathroom mirror.
