Terri

My wife of 21½  years works for a Christian day care and pre-school. She loves working with children and sharing her love for Jesus with them—and they respond so willingly. Terri and I will celebrate 22 years of marriage in June.

Troy

Born two days after Mt. St. Helens erupted in 1980, he's discovered a world of interesting people and prospects now that he has his driver's license. Not the least is his new respect for the value of an education.

Hannah

A vivacious, bubbling free-spirit, she's pursuing a variety of interests—including learning to ski, trying out for drama productions, and playing "bunco" with her mother and some long-time friends.

Friends

I love my friends and they help me keep my faith journey focused. "When it rains, it snows," says one about times when life gets overwhelming. "No is your best friend," says another, advising not to over-commit.

Pets

Pets are a saftey valve, so say psychologists. They help relieve stresses by not getting stressed out and giving unconditional love. Our pets certainly have become integral members of the Heavener clan. See my loving tribute to our dear Houdini to understand why. At right, we spotted Houdini's star on the Hollywood Walk of fame.

All of us in one place

It happens so rarely anymore—all four of us in the same place at the same time. We're all grown up and all have our own sets of pressures. That's why it was a joy to have the luxury of 10 marvelous days together in 2002, at Disneyland, Universal Studios, Magic Mountain, San Diego Zoo, and several other places. See a few photos of us together.
