Hark! How sounds the aardvark?
Pink! Pink, like old kings
Levitating in new clothes.
What sounds, what joys,
What dreams the aardvark
To his earthy realm brings.
A lover, a gambler, and yet …
Yet so detached from material things.

Inspired by Paul Nelson's "Exquisite Corpse" workshop at Poets in the Park 2005. Start from memories of a two year old so smart she wasn't satisfied until she knew what sound an aardvark makes. Throw in a little early Addams family, a famous morality play, and a fuzzy-haired kidder. Mix well and dispense.
