Your opportunity to show love

Sponsorship is the way in which the Chrysalis experience is passed from person to person, reflecting the manner in which God purposefully reaches out to people through other people.

After a Chrysalis weekend, participants want to share the gift of those three days with others. Sponsorship provides them a caring and disciplined way to do that. And in doing so, sponsors participate in and demonstrate God's outreaching love. Good sponsorship is the first act of agape before a Chrysalis weekend ever begins. The promise of the Chrysalis experience for each young person really begins with how we handle sponsorship.

Sponsors help make God's love real through personal agape, prayer for each Caterpillar, sponsor's presence at Candlelight and Closing, and assistance in follow-up. Sponsors help make Chrysalis an act of sacrificial love from beginning to end. Sponsorship is forever and it does not end with the Chrysalis weekend.

Good sponsorship is an important link back into the real world of Next Steps following each Chrysalis. Sponsors are there to answer questions, to be faithful friends, and to provide perspective. Sponsors guide Butterflies to follow-up groups, encourage participants to renew connections with their churches and youth fellowships, and help new Butterflies sponsor other youth. A sponsor may even provides transportation and financial assistance.

Good sponsorship is the foundation for a healthy, effective Chrysalis movement that is fulfilling its true purpose—the faith formation of young people and their development as Christian leaders in the church and the world. Committed sponsors are extremely important. Sponsors are people whom young people know and look up to. When sponsors continue the sponsoring relationship, the youth are more likely to stay involved.

Sponsorship is an act of love for God, for young people, for the Chrysalis community, and for the church. It is a living demonstration of agape love. Through sponsorship, we become instruments of God's design and desire for the person that we sponsor.
